In 1932 Paillard of Switzerland created an all-steel portable, the Hermes 2000. One year later a lighter version of the Hermes 2000 was produced and named Hermes Media, which was again re-worked in 1958, to produce the Hermes 3000.
This machine was an instant success, and praised by many for the sophisticated mechanics, good performance and bold looks. The design saw several changes through the years, starting with the classy round shape, which was refreshed in the late 1960s.
The Hermes 3000 unique features and innovations include: a control panel grouping all the service keys, 4 positions for the ribbon (to maximize ink use), the world’s first flying margins (visible in front of the sheet of paper), a control board grouping all the service keys, and a key pressure regulator.
